SpaceX reported its first quarterly results as a public company on August 4. Revenue rose 92 percent to $7.8 billion from $4.1 billion a year earlier, the net loss narrowed to $541 million from just over a billion, and Starlink finished the quarter with 12 million subscribers, double the year before. The stock fell anyway. The investor reading that result from the private side of the market takes the Satellite Innovation stage at Silicon Valley Space Week in October.
Alyssa Goessler Goodwin is a Vice President at AE Industrial Partners, the Boca Raton aerospace and defense investment firm founded in 1998, where her work covers financial modeling, due diligence, executing new investments and monitoring the firm’s portfolio. She joined in 2024 from McKinsey & Company, where she was a specialist leading the firm’s Global Space Center of Excellence. Before that she built a career in international security, working at the Council on Foreign Relations, the United Nations, the Aerospace Security Project at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, and the Strauss Center’s space program. She is a U.S. Department of State Critical Language Scholar alumna in Arabic, a co-founder of the Boston Space Network, and a St. Gallen Symposium leader of tomorrow.

AE Industrial backed Sierra Space’s record $1.4 billion Series A, and Sierra Space took roughly $798 million of the $1.75 billion the Space Development Agency awarded in July for missile tracking satellites. Silicon Valley Space Week ran a version of this conversation in 2024, when Alexis Sáinz moderated a session on space mergers and acquisitions.
Goessler Goodwin joins “After SPCX: The Public Market’s Verdict on Space” on Tuesday, October 27, from 11:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. in the Hahn Auditorium at the Computer History Museum in Mountain View. Sáinz, a Partner at Hogan Lovells, moderates. The other panelists are Mike Collett, Managing Partn…
