Kazakh telco Transtelecom (TTC) said on Tuesday it’s currently installing Starlink connectivity on trains operated by Passenger Transportation JSC, a subsidiary of national railway company Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (KTZ).
TTC said the project – which is being implemented in stages – will provide Starlink’s LEO satellite broadband service in 124 trains and 1,235 carriages along 50 routes across Kazakhstan.
TTC also said satellite internet access has already been launched on some trains, while work to equip the remaining trains is ongoing “in accordance with the project implementation schedule”, without providing details on a target completion date.
TTC said the addition of satellite broadband will expand internet access while traveling, particularly on routes where terrestrial mobile network coverage is limited or non-existent.
Starlink has been available in Kazakhstan since August 2025. TTC became an official Starlink reseller partner in February this year.
In May, TTC kicked off a project with national postal operator QazPost to install Starlink satellite connectivity in remote settlements in Kazakhstan.
Rival telco Beeline Kazakhstan has been field-testing Starlink’s direct-to-device (D2D) satellite service, with plans for a commercial service launch sometime this year.
